| 217 probes were launched toward
the Moon, the neighbouring planets and the outer giants as well as to minor
bodies (asteroids and comets). Two-fifth of them failed to accomplish their
mission.
There are also 116 astronomy and solar satellites (which observed the Universe from Earth orbit) and 355 Earth/space science satellites. (See lists of Planetary
